Humans VS AI.IO — Free Browser Tower Defence Game

Defend your base against waves of AI robots. No download needed.

Fight ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok as Tower Defence Enemies

Humans VS AI.IO is a unique free browser tower defence game that turns the world's most famous AI models into robot enemies you must defeat. Instead of generic alien invaders, you face waves of machines named and designed after real AI platforms: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Mistral, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Copilot and Meta AI. Each bot has abilities inspired by what makes its real-world counterpart distinctive — Claude heals nearby allies just as Claude models excel at long-context reasoning, Grok jams your turrets, and Gemini zigzags unpredictably. The concept transforms the current AI landscape into a strategic battlefield, making Humans VS AI.IO the first tower defence game where you literally fight back against artificial intelligence. Available entirely free in your browser at humansvsai.io with no download or account required.

How to Play Humans VS AI.IO

Start by selecting a difficulty and map. Once the game loads, you have a brief window before the first wave to place turrets on the grass tiles bordering the enemy path. Click a turret in the arsenal panel on the left, then click a valid grass tile to deploy it. Each turret costs gold — you begin with between $300 and $500 depending on difficulty. Use the NEXT WAVE button in the bottom-right to start each wave on your own terms.

As enemies are defeated they drop gold, which you can reinvest in more turrets, upgrades, or soldiers to fight on the road. Turrets can be upgraded up to three tiers by clicking them during a wave — upgrades unlock powerful bonuses like piercing shots, area-of-effect blasts, and chain electricity. Mid-game you unlock special abilities: Firewall slows enemies by 65%, Virus Bomb destroys shielded units, and Beacon doubles your fire rate for 10 seconds. Manage your gold carefully, prioritise threats, and adapt your layout as new AI enemy types appear.

All AI Enemy Types in Humans VS AI.IO

ChatGPT Bot

The standard heavy enemy and first boss-tier unit. ChatGPT bots are durable with high HP and plough straight through your defences. They appear in the early waves and keep appearing throughout, increasingly armoured in later rounds. Target them early to prevent a flood.

Claude Bot

Claude bots are support units that continuously heal all nearby enemies. Their healing aura makes adjacent robots far harder to kill. Counter them immediately with Rocket Turrets for area suppression, or they will undo your damage fast. They are especially dangerous in tight formation waves.

Gemini Bot

Gemini bots move in a fast unpredictable zigzag pattern, making them hard to hit for slow-projectile turrets. Laser and Sniper Turrets are the most effective counters due to their instant-hit mechanics. Gemini bots start appearing at mid-game and become more numerous in later rounds.

Grok Bot

Grok bots can jam your turrets, disabling nearby weapons for a few seconds. They are immune to EMP stun, so you cannot freeze them the same way. Keep an EMP Turret in range — EMP turrets are the only ones immune to Grok jamming and will continue firing while your others are offline.

Mistral Bot

Mistral bots are stealth enemies that appear semi-transparent and take only 50% damage from turrets unless fully revealed. Place a Radar Tower or EMP Turret to expose them. Once revealed they receive full damage and become visible to all weapons. They are the primary reason to invest in a Radar Tower.

DeepSeek Bot

DeepSeek bots regenerate health after not taking damage for three seconds. They punish gaps in your coverage — a robot that passes through a dead zone will emerge with full HP. Virus Spikes on the path disrupt the regen cycle. Maintain consistent fire coverage across the entire route.

Perplexity Bot

Perplexity bots carry heavy armour that reduces incoming damage significantly. Standard turrets are much less effective against armoured targets. Use the AP Rounds upgrade (unlocked at wave 10) to reduce the armour penalty, or tier-3 AP Rounds to bypass armour entirely on every shot from every turret.

Copilot Bot

Copilot bots are fast-moving support units that fly alongside other enemies and boost the movement speed of nearby robots. They can turn a wave of standard units into a rushing swarm. Prioritise killing Copilots quickly — their death removes the speed bonus from all allies they were buffing.

Meta Bot

Meta bots generate temporary shields on themselves and nearby allies, absorbing incoming damage before HP is reduced. EMP Turrets immediately strip these shields on hit. The Meta bot also has a shield cooldown mechanic — EMP clears shields and blocks them from reapplying for 5 seconds, giving your other turrets a window to deal full damage.

Turrets and Weapons Guide

Humans VS AI.IO features eight distinct turret types, each serving a different role in your defence strategy. The Basic Turret is your starting workhorse — cheap, reliable, and upgradeable with piercing shots. The Laser Turret deals instant-hit continuous damage, excellent against fast Gemini zigzaggers. The Sniper Turret (unlocks wave 5) has extreme range and armour penetration, ideal for high-HP targets. The Rocket Turret (unlocks wave 3) fires slow homing missiles with area-of-effect splash, suppressing Claude healers. The EMP Turret (unlocks wave 3) stuns and chains to multiple enemies, strips Meta Bot shields, and is immune to Grok jamming. The Tesla Turret (unlocks wave 7) chains devastating electricity between clustered enemies. The Radar Tower (unlocks wave 2) reveals stealth Mistral bots and gains Target Lock and Signal Jam upgrades. The Jet Fighter delivers powerful airstrikes anywhere on the map.

Game Modes Explained

Recruit Mode (1–35 Rounds)

Recruit Mode is the entry point for new players. Enemies move at reduced speed and have slightly lower HP, giving you more time to plan your turret placement and learn the mechanics. You start with $500 gold, the highest of any mode. The 35-round structure means there is a clear endpoint, making it ideal for understanding how waves escalate and which turret combinations are most effective. Recommended for anyone new to tower defence games or to Humans VS AI.IO specifically.

Agent Mode (1–55 Rounds)

Agent Mode is the standard experience and the intended default for most players. Enemies move at normal speed, difficulties scale naturally across 55 waves, and you start with $400. New enemy types are introduced progressively so you have time to adapt your strategy. Special abilities unlock mid-game at the same waves as always. This mode rewards solid turret positioning and good upgrade decisions without punishing small mistakes as harshly as higher difficulties.

Singularity Mode (1–75 Rounds)

Singularity is the advanced challenge mode. Enemies are faster and smarter from wave 1, HP values are significantly higher, and the wave count extends to 75. You start with only $300 gold, forcing harder trade-offs early. There are no bonus gold rewards between waves in Singularity — every dollar must come from kills. Only experienced players who have mastered turret synergies, ability timing, and soldier deployment should attempt this mode.

Autonomous Freeplay (Endless)

Autonomous Freeplay is the endless survival mode and the heart of the competitive experience. Maximum difficulty applies from round 1 — enemies are at full strength with no ramp-up. Waves never stop and enemies grow progressively stronger with each round. You start with $400. There is no win condition; the goal is to survive as many rounds as possible. Every completed game submits a score to the global leaderboard, ranked by highest round reached. This is the mode that puts you on the map.

Tips and Strategy for Humans VS AI.IO

Cover all path segments early. A single gap in your turret coverage is all an enemy needs to slip through unharmed. Prioritise getting at least one turret on every straight section of the path before upgrading existing ones.

Mix turret types. Single-type defences have hard counters. Armoured enemies shrug off basic turrets, stealth bots ignore everything unless revealed, and fast zigzaggers dodge slow projectiles. A mix of EMP, Laser, Rocket, and Basic turrets covers most scenarios.

Use EMP Turrets centrally. EMP Turrets stun a radius of enemies around them and are immune to Grok jamming. Placing one in the middle of your line means it never goes offline when Grok waves arrive.

Save Firewall for packed waves. The Firewall ability slows all enemies passing through it by 65%. It is most valuable in dense waves where multiple enemies are stacked — triggering it too early on a sparse wave wastes the cooldown.

Beacon before Virus Bomb. Activate Beacon (double fire rate) first, then immediately trigger Virus Bomb. You will fire more shots during the Bomb's slow-motion effect, dramatically increasing your total damage output.

Upgrade path choke points. Turrets placed at bends in the path cover more ground time. Upgrade these to tier 3 before placing more tier-1 turrets elsewhere — a tier-3 Rocket at a corner is worth three tier-1s on a straight.

Use soldiers for priority kills. Soldiers deployed on the road can chase and kill specific high-priority enemies that have passed your turret line. A Commander with aura upgrades boosts nearby turret fire rate significantly.
